Local Bike Shop Day – 2019
It’s back! – Local Bike Shop Day at Bikeshak – May 4th
That’s right ‘LBS’ day is returning in 2019 after a successful first year of promoting local independent bicycle stores up and down the country. Local Bike Shop day is all about showing support for your local cycle store (that’d be us!) and in turn us showing you how awesome, friendly, knowledgeable and approachable we are, we’ll have some great activities on the day including:
Madison – Genesis Demo
The highlight of the day has to be our Madison Genesis demo! You’ll get the opportunity to swing a leg over a collection of outstanding Genesis bikes including Genesis Zero, Equilibrium, Croix de Fer and Datum. We are in the process of route planning with a 5 to 10 mile loop starting and finishing at the shop, we’ll have two rides on the day one for road and one for gravel, perfect for back to back comparisons! We’ll be posting more detailed information on our planned demo very shortly so keep your ear to the ground with our social media pages and check back here soon.
Bikeshak Puncture Challenge
Think you’re the speediest tube changer in the North West area? Prove it and set a time in our Puncture Challenge! We had some very rapid tube changes last year with the best time set at 1 min 57 seconds but you know what they say, records are made to be broken! Prizes are available for the fastest tube wranglers and if you’ve never changed a tube before we will be happy to show you how to!
Alternative Bike Co – Simply ridiculous bikes
I’m bloody determined to ride the ‘Opposite Steering’ bike. I nearly cracked it last year so Alt Bike’s selection of ‘made in Eccles’ bonkers bikes will be back for you to have a play on in between our Madison Genesis Demo. If you manage to ride all three to the end of the car park and back there’s a prize up for grabs! – Spoiler – Good luck, you’re gonna need it!
Workshop Class Special – The art of handlebar tape wrapping
This deceptively tricky task is something every road cyclist should have in their arsenal of maintenance skills. We’ll be running a special class on the day to show you have to wrap bars like a pro.
Old Format Music!
We are big fans of Vinyl in the store and have been collecting for years so of course we’ll be breaking out the record player once again to soundtrack the day! It’s worth visiting Tasty Records of Altrincham (pictured) before you drop in and say hi to us, it’s our favourite local independent music shop where much of the music on the day will have come from!
