Rides & Races
Anglesey by bicycle
Finally the sun came out….
well, it is almost half way through August. I’d been planning a few days away on this fabulous island for weeks now, constantly thwarted by the frankly crap weather forecast, but yesterday everything finally lined up.
The journey along the A55 wasn’t promising, heavy rain all the way to Conway, then out of the tunnel and blue skies – another world.
Park the car, unload the bike, fit the saddlebag, ride, simple…
Yes it really is that simple. Downhill to start with makes for a fine start to any ride, conveniently overlooking the fact that I would be riding uphill at the finish.
Along a bit, left a bit, right a bit, up a bit, Anglesey has it all. And cafes, they have really good cafes there, usually set by the seaside with great views. 7 hours later and I’m back at the car. It’s been a gentle ride – 65 miles but lots of stops to take in the sea air, a mix of on road and off road and back lanes so rarely used that there are green strips down the middle.
Can’t wait to get back there in a few weeks time with Simon, we have a four day tour planned, should be fun.
